In the beginning
Rodney (Rod) first fell in love with coffee when he scored a secondhand espresso machine at Salvation Army. Although it was missing a few key components, Rodney has been constantly learning more and more about coffee and espresso. This machine actually lived on for more the 4 years before it was replaced.
Our founder
Rodney’s love for coffee propelled him into the world of coffee roasting in 2022 (also the recommended YouTube video about home roasted coffee beans may have helped). All you need is a stove and saucepan, so that’s where the coffee roasting journey began. Throughout the year, Rodney learned more about roasting and specialty coffee.
Roaster build
During the summer of 2023, Rodney built a coffee roaster using a grill and rotisserie drums and officially opened for business in September 2023. He is excited to bring great quality coffee beans to the Bluffton community.
Pleasing aroma
Coffee has a multitude of pleasing aromas during the roasting, grinding, and brewing processes. We are called to live lives that are a pleasing aroma to God. Old Testament believers were called to offer burnt sacrifices to God that were a pleasing aroma. Jesus was the ultimate pleasing aroma sacrifice to God, and now we are called to be living sacrifices of a pleasing aroma to God. My prayer is that this coffee can be a pleasing aroma to the Lord and to you. And I promise you that Rod’s Roast coffee will only be roasted, not burnt.
